Dr. Phil Webb is a believer in people and the crucial relationship between people and planet. With interests in innovation, sustainability, research and development he has a career spanning academia, industry and the public sector. As the European lead for discovery, clinical trials and regulatory affairs for over 15 years, he led cardiovascular discovery, recruiting over 25, 000 patients in over 80 clinical trials with two leading global pharmaceutical giants. His health and social care expertise spans over 20 years, from being the director of value-based healthcare at a health board to being a national commissioner for cardiac, transplant, cancer and blood services as well as being a committee member for NICE and the All Wales Medical Strategy Group, as well as sitting on the Clinical Priorities Advisory Group for NHS England.
Over the last 7 years he has become involved with the critical role of buildings as drivers for reducing inequalities as CEO of Respiratory Innovation Wales and Health and Wellbeing 360 Ltd as sites on the Indoor Air Quality Committee and Mould Standards Committee for the Building Engineers Services Association (BESA), is a CIBSE Health and Social Care Committee member and in involved in the Air Quality All Party Group and the Industrial Hemp All Party Group. His work on sustainability for people and planet culminated in presenting at the United Nations GA 78 and 80 on the critical importance of air quality on human health and wellbeing as well as being awarded Global Green Champion at COP 28.
He is currently working on developing Marmot Principles for Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen Local Authorities in a radical approach to co-produce health wellbeing for a greener, fairer and more prosperous life for some of the most deprived communities in the UK. His early university years as a stand-up comedian have helped in the articulation of this challenge – humour, humility and a sense of identity to drive transformative change now and for the health, wellbeing and prosperity of future generations.
